The Benefits of Monitored Alarm Systems from Safenet Systems

When it comes to home security, there are a lot of different options and systems to consider. It can be confusing to know which one will suit your home and household the best.

Monitored security systems are often referred to as the most highly secure options in home and business security. Not sure you know enough about monitored security systems? Read on to find out everything you need to know.

What is a monitored security system

A monitored home security system is essentially a security system that is monitored 24/7 by an external company that provide monitoring services. A monitored security system means that you will have continuous surveillance of your system, including alarms, CCTV, sensors etc.

If activity is picked up, the monitored system will send you an instant notification and you can advise whether it is a false alarm or not. If there is no response or you reply that it was not a false alarm, then the system will send out a security team and contact the relevant authorities.

How does it work?

With a monitored security system, your home security system acts as a central control panel and provides fast and detailed communication with the monitoring station.

Your central control panel is made up of components such as your intruder alarms, door and window sensors, motion detectors, CCTV etc. If any one of these components is triggered by activity, they will send an automatic signal to the monitoring station, which will then send you a notification via phone, text message or app notification that an event has occurred at your property.

If the activity is a genuine emergency then the monitoring system will automatically send an alert to the relevant authorities and dispatch the required assistance.

What is the difference between a monitored and unmonitored security system?

The main difference between a monitored and unmonitored security system is that with a monitored system, you will be paying an external security company to keep a constant eye on your home for potential intruders or break-ins.

Whereas with an unmonitored system, it is solely your responsibility to notice if an alarm is working properly and to contact the required authorise when they are triggered. This is difficult when you are away from your property and you may have to rely on neighbours to contact you if an alarm is triggered.

What are the benefits of a monitored security system?

There are many benefits to a monitored security system, which include:

  • Don’t need to rely on neighbours for alerts.
  • System is monitored whether you are at home, at work or on holiday.
